To Do List…

Saturday: “Post on Blog”….
OH MY!!!! I knew this was coming – I looked at it several times on my “to do” list this week. I have been thinking about doing it…now it is here…WHAT TO DO?????

Do you ever feel this way about your “to do list”? Does your “to do” list, like mine just absolutely overwhelm you? You watch it, think about it, plan to do it – then all of a sudden it is here and guess what…It’s NOT done!!!

In this call to enter the journey to “become God’s true woman” I have to ask myself “Is the above scenario part of this journey?” I must also answer myself and say “I think NOT!!” (ok, yes, I do talk to myself and yes, I do answer myself)! So, what has happened to get me to this place in my life? A place of living from one “to do” to the “next to do” and feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, frazzled, frustrated, emotionally unstable, insecure, burned out, discouraged, depressed, ashamed, defeated and even in bondage to the list itself… .the list can go on and on. Why? Because I have failed to “get it all done” and in the process let people down and projects not completed or just done enough to get by. I am convinced that what has happened to me and perhaps too many of you is that “we have been HAD” (as Beth Moore puts it in “When godly people do ungodly things”). We have believed a lie.

What is that “lie” we have believed? Consider Eve….as we begin this journey together let’s take a walk through the first garden…the Garden of Eden, the first home of Adam and Eve which was perfect. This is the starting place of the “lie of all lies” that began with the very first woman. And yes, it has affected each and every one of us today. Eve listened to a lie, she believed the lie, and then she acted upon the lie. Results: every problem, hurt, heartbreak, etc goes back to this simple lie. And from this one lie – more lies evolved. What we must remember, like the lie Eve was confronted with, most lies that we are confronted with today are “lies that LOOK like truth”. These can be simple things in our culture that have influenced our thinking through media, magazines, education, just life in general. We can start by looking back at the beginnng of the “women’s movement” years ago and how it has taken us to the place of feeling as if we have to be great women, who does it all and leaves us exhausted and unbalanced. Personally, I am on a journey to find the path that God wants me to travel – one of peace, joy, and balance! One in which at the end of the day I can mark off my “to do list” and hear my Lord say “Well done, my good and faithful servant”!

This journey is not going to be a smooth, pleasure ride but rather one that is going to take me to cross roads where I am going to have to STOP, LOOK at the map of God’s Word, and LISTEN to His direction in order to get to my destination. As we have studied for the last 6 weeks with Pastor Stan in our “Purpose Driven Communities” we are reminded that we are better together and as women traveling on this journey together we offer encouragement and hope to take back the “truth” the enemy has stolen from us as women and fulfill the purpose to bring God Glory in our Womanhood.

Travel with me my friends, we can do it and yes “I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR” but not what the world says…what the WORD SAYS!

I am right there with you, Donna. Although, I have to admit, I'm not real good at making to do lists. I know it's a great idea, but I can get so overwhelmed by the length of the list, or not being able to check everything off, that I become discouraged, or even paralyzed and not accomplish anything! So I try to keep a mental list and use a calendar. But more important I've learned that each day is a gift from God. Psalm 118:24 is a verse that helps me tremendously, "This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it." I want to accomplish His will not mine, turn my agenda into His agenda, and rejoice in the blessings. At the end of the day, all that really matters is that I lived it pleasing Him, right?
